Mcleodganj is a Hill station near Dharamshala in Himachal Pradesh. It’s one of the places famous among trekkers. It was the home of a great Tibetian leader Dalai Lama. The culture of mcleodganj has a culture of both Buddhism and of British rule. Mcleodganj has amazing and most memorable views all over the year which makes it a place that attracts a lot of tourists all over the year.

It is a perfect destination for trekkers and it has an elevation of about 2,800 meters (9,186 feet). Stay overnight for a great view of the night sky, then wake up in the morning with the snowy peaks of the Himalayas staring you in the face. The trek is easy but takes 7 hours with kids. You can stay up there in tents.

The best time to visit Mcleod Ganj is between October and February, mainly in the winter season and between March and June in the summer season. The region experiences pleasant summers with temperatures hovering around 25°C and cold and chilly winters with temperatures between -1°C and 9°C. Storms are not quite recommended as the region receives heavy rain annually. It is best to avoid July and August due to the heavy rainfall.

Dal Lake

Located at the height of 1,775 meters above sea level. The Dal Lake is near the village Tota Rani in the Kangra district of Mcleodganj in Himachal Pradesh, the Dal Lake is a small yet picturesque lake. 
Quaint and calm, Dal lake is filled with greenish water. The lake is shielded by the rugged mountains and luscious forest of deodar trees. On the bank of the Dal lake, tourists can see the famous Shiva temple.

Dal lake is mostly visited by tourists during the month of September as a fair is organized on the bank of the lake which is attended by the people of the Gaddi tribe in a large number.

Religious monuments

If you are into religion there are two main exquisite religious monuments in mcleodganj. The first is the Bhagsunag Temple and the other one is the Church of Saint John’s in Wilderness.

It is meant to be the final resting place of Lord Ergin, governor-general and viceroy of India during the British Raj. This church should not be confused with the church of the same name located in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

Bhagsu Falls

The Bhagsu Waterfall is one of the most famous tourist spots in Dharamshala and attracts tourists who wish to revel in the glories of nature and spend some quiet moments in peace and serenity. The Bhagsunag Waterfall is located on the main road which connects Mcleodganj and Dharamshala and is an ideal location for picnicking with family and loved ones. The other famous spot near bhagsu Falls is the Bhagsunath Temple.
